What it actually is
Most interview prep is reading: a PDF of 400 questions, a textbook chapter, a forum thread. CapTableClash is a duel. What's covered
Six technical areas make up the question bank: accounting flow-throughs, EV bridges, valuation (DCF and trading comps), cost of capital (WACC), leverage and LBO mechanics, and cap tables & VC math. A separate Excel Shortcut mode runs the actual keyboard chords, keytip sequences, and formulas a live modeling test asks for, on its own, noticeably tighter clock. Five ways to play
Campaign is a solo ladder against bot opponents across five floors of the firm, unrated. Rush gives you three minutes and as many questions as you can answer, a wrong one costing time instead of ending the run. Is CapTableClash actually about investment banking, or is it a VC/cap-table tool?
Both. "Cap table" is in the name because startup equity and VC math (pre/post-money, dilution, liquidation preferences) are one of the six technical topics — but the core question bank is standard investment-banking technical-interview material: accounting flow-throughs, DCF and comps valuation, WACC and cost of capital, LBO mechanics, and EV bridges. It's built for the same interview prep as a traditional IB/PE technical round, not exclusively for startup finance.
How is this different from a PDF of practice questions?
A PDF tests recognition — can you follow the answer once you're looking at it. This puts a real clock on you and an opponent across from you, the same pressure as an actual technical round, and scores you the instant you answer instead of after you've already seen the solution. Both sides see the identical question at the identical moment; the faster correct answer wins the round.
Is it free, and do I need an account?
