Excel Shortcuts Every Investment Banking Analyst Should Know
The gap between a first-year who's still reaching for the mouse and one who isn't comes down almost entirely to a few dozen keyboard shortcuts. Here they are, organized by what you're actually doing at your desk.
This isn't about being fast for its own sake. It's about not breaking focus.
Every reach for the mouse is a small interruption to whatever you were actually thinking about in the model. Do it a hundred times a day and it adds up to a lot of lost thread.
The shortcuts below are grouped the same way CapTableClash's own Excel Shortcut mode organizes them: navigation, selection, formatting, formulas, and editing.
Navigation

Beyond the standard Ctrl-based shortcuts, Excel's older Alt-key “keytip” system still works and covers commands that never got a dedicated chord. Tap Alt, release it, then press the letters shown for each ribbon command in sequence — for example, Alt, H, B, O applies a bottom border without ever touching the mouse.
